What I 'Told a Reporter'
Well here I am in jolly old England awaiting the start of the beer festival and I get e-mail from a fomer LA Daily News co-worker who informs me I'm quoted in the most recent issue of LA Magazine. Apparently there is a story about LADN Managing Editor Ron Kaye (who, by the way, was at my wedding last year.) I come in here:

"The dissent boiled over in August 1998, when the Daily News announced its $60,000 contribution to Valley VOTE. Editor David Butler convened a meeting with about 35 disgruntled editors and reporters to address their misgivings about the donation, but little was resolved. 'You work hard, you make a lot of sacrifices, and one day you wake up and find out, "We deceived you. We lied to you," ' assistant city editor Amy Collins told a reporter after the meeting. 'It's very upsetting,' said Collins, who is no longer with the paper."

Just for clarification, I have never been contacted by LA Magazine. If you do a Google search for "Amy Collins," you get this page, eventhough I dropped the Collins more than a year ago. So presumably the writer didn't bother to look for me. He also didn't bother to tell his readers he lifted the quote from a four-year old New York Times story.
